Hi! I’m Akshita Sahlot (Fig. 1), a mixed-media artist based in London. I love working with my hands to create delightful, functional (and sometimes non-functional) art objects. I work primarily with paper mache clay and collage. My work is rooted in the principles of slow production, slow consumption, and craftsmanship.

 

Pretend Shop, a creative homeware brand, is born from my need and necessity to play. Intrinsically a homebody, I find joy in filling homes with delightful objects. Each piece is made by hand in my home studio using nothing but recycled materials and a shit ton of talent (n.b: I do use glue, scissors and such things too)
